Transforming Knowledge Into Action

Transforming Knowledge Into Action

Professional Development for positive youth engagement

Adults that work with youth know a lot—they have a treasure trove of knowledge gained from education and life experience. How can we use that knowledge to better or connections and work with young people? By bringing a bit of ourselves into our work, we can more easily build trust and have more authentic engagement with young people.

MYAN offers a three-part ‘train the trainer’ series covering new strategies for youth engagement. The series is designed to be re-used and re-mixed by attendees to train their organizations and peers. All trainings in this series are free to attend and offer continuing education units (CEUs) or contact hours for completion. These trainings provide an excellent opportunity to connect with other professionals and expand your personal network.

In this series, we cover

  • How we can prepare ourselves (and other adults) to understand our strengths as mentors, and how modelling can impact young people.
  • Research-based strategies to build sustainable programming and more effectively connect with young people.
  • How we as facilitators can model social and emotional learning skills that encourage young people to take more active roles and build new competencies.

Youth Mentoring Strategies
