Positive Youth Development

Positive Youth Development

Neuroscience, SEL, and Racial Equity

In this training, we’ll examine the neuroscience behind social and emotional learning, and how we can leverage SEL concepts to promote equity. A racial equity lens to this work is essential to cultivating positive outcomes for all young people, especially those who are marginalized.

This training runs for 90 minutes. Click the dates below to register.

Fostering Strong Relationships with Young People

This session will explore authentic relationships with young people: how to foster strong partnership, why those relationships have such significant impact on young people. We will review best practices for fostering relationships, support attendees to reflect on their individual assets, and identify strategies for strengthening relationships with young people.

This training runs for 90 minutes. Click the dates below to register.

Play to Learn: Gamifying Learning Experiences

Participants will experience how to use the fundamentals of gaming to develop social emotional learning skills in communication, creativity, resiliency, and identity exploration. During this training participants will learn about the fundamental tenets of gaming, explore types of games, and identify how to integrate “gamification” into existing learning environments.

This training runs for 120 minutes. Click the dates below to register.

Youth Driven Programming

Developing youth led programming means partnering with young people from the start! By prioritizing equitable partnerships with young people, this workshop will aim to spark creative ideas for its participants, as they look to identify or expand opportunities for youth-led programs in their work.

In this participatory space, facilitators will provide examples of existing MYAN youth programs and discuss the process of how these programs were created and implemented. With an emphasis on fostering strong relationships with young people, participants will reflect on youth engagement practices that enhance capacity for youth lead planning, decision-making, community partnership and program sustainability.

This training runs for 90 minutes. Click the dates below to register.
