Meet the G2O Team!

The 2020 Gateway to Opportunity Team Leaders

PORTLAND

City of Portland Public Health Division

Bilan
Hi! I am Bilan! I am a second year student at the University of Southern Maine, where I study Human Biology and Psychology, with the intent to work in the healthcare field. When I am not studying or working, I enjoy reading, crafts, spending time with friends, and bingeing netflix shows! As a Team Leader for this summer, I will be working with the City of Portland Public Health Division to create a PSA about tobacco use prevention. I hope to encourage and uplift youth voice, while exploring creative methods to achieve our goals, navigating employment, and having fun!

SOUTH PORTLAND

Office of Sustainability for the City of South Portland

Tasha Tracy
She/Her/Hers
Hey everybody I’m Tasha! I am a second year at Southern Maine Community College where I’ma Liberal Arts major with a focus in Human Services. I intend on working in the system to provide reliable assistance to those who are not represented.
When I have free time I enjoy taking random road trips out of state whether it be for food, exploration, or visiting family and friends. I also enjoy watching a good horror movie, eating Chipotle, singing, and attempting these TikTok dances!
For the remainder of the summer, I will be a Team Leader for the City of South Portland’s Sustainability Office to create a platform for the youth to tell their story through climate justice. Whether they include why and how #BlackLivesMatter and COVID-19 correlate to our current climate orientationor not, this will be an opportunity for the community to hear the importance of acting now to better our future!

SoPo Unite

Christie
I’m Christie! I‘m from Cape Elizabeth and I am a rising junior at the University of Michigan studying neuroscience and music. I am passionate about amplifying the voices of youth to create positive change in communities, which is why I am so excited about working with SoPo Unite this summer. In my free time I play the drums in a funk/jazz band and love to go camping.

BRIDGTON

Loon Echo Land Trust

Camille
Hi! My name is Camille, I grew up in Bridgton, and I am a senior at Suffolk University in Boston majoring in psychology with a minor in sociology. I’m happy to be partnered with Loon Echo Land Trust in my hometown to create a project with youth about the importance of land conservation and access to the outdoors. Youth employment in our community is something I am passionate about and I am so excited to work with GTO to help create employment opportunities in our area. When I’m not studying for classes I can usually be found hanging out with my cats Bella and Sam, working on some unfinished piano pieces, or catching up on the latest docuseries on Netflix.
