Skill Development and Support for Adults

Young people are only half of the equation. Adults are integral contributors to the development of young people. Supporting adults has a ripple effect—reaching dozens of young people and other adults. We teach, coach, mentor – and model! – positive youth development practices.

MYAN believes in the power of youth-adult partnerships, and our group skill development and individualized support are available to every adult in Maine looking to make a difference in the lives of young people. Training is an integral part of our mission to support adults who are enriching young people’s lives.

Trainings

MYAN provides a free training series for interested adults across the state. Educators who complete the series are eligible for Continuing Education Units (CEUs). Most of our trainings are day-long events and provide lunch catered by local restaurants. These trainings are designed to help adults cultivate and practice new skills that make their own work easier and are easy to share with their colleagues.

Technical Assistance

MYAN staff bring extensive knowledge and expertise to youth work. We provide expert assistance to any adult looking to enhance their youth development skills. From local youth advisers to state law and policymakers, we support adults in leveraging research-informed best practices in their work with young people. Our technical assistance work is tailored to the needs and interests of each adult or organization we work with.
