Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention is to develop and deliver services to preserve, protect and promote the health and well-being of the citizens of Maine. Within the Department of Health and Human Services, the Maine CDC has responsibility for public health issues and concerns.
Healthy Maine Partnership (HMP)
The Healthy Maine Partnerships is an initiative that was established to link aspects of four Bureau of Health programs: Partnership For A Tobacco-Free Maine (PTM), Maine Cardiovascular Health Program (MCVHP), Community Health Program (CHP), and the Bureau of Health Coordinated School Health Programs (BOH, CSHP), in collaboration with the Department of Education’s Coordinated School Health Program (DOE, CSHP). The coordination of the state and local intervention activities are funded by the tobacco settlement and assures linkages with related program activities. In the Summer and Fall of 2007, the Maine Office of Substance Abuse joined forces with these programs to support the Healthy Maine Partnership initiative.
Partnership for a Tobacco-Free Maine (PTM)
The Partnership For A Tobacco-Free Maine is responsible for tobacco prevention and control throughout Maine. Its mission is to reduce death and disability from tobacco use among Maine citizens by creating an environment supportive of a tobacco-free life.
Physical Activity and Nutrition Program (PANP)
The Physical Activity and Nutrition Program (PANP) is responsible for improving nutrition and increases physical activity that promotes health and reduces chronic disease.
Teen & Young Adult Health Program (TYAHP)
The Teen & Young Adult Health Program envisions a Maine where all adolescents have a safe environment that promotes healthy choices leading to a successful transition to adult self-sufficiency.
Office of Substance Abuse (OSA)
OSA is a new partner to MYAN as of July 2007. The Maine Office of Substance Abuse is the single state administrative authority responsible for the planning, development, implementation, regulation, and evaluation of substance abuse services. The Office provides leadership in substance abuse prevention, intervention, and treatment. Its goal is to enhance the health and safety of Maine citizens through the reduction of the overall impact of substance use, abuse, and dependency.
People's Regional Opportunity Program (PROP)
PROP is a community action agency committed to identifying and addressing social, economic, educational, and health needs existing in Maine. We accomplish this mission by eliminating barriers that prevent people from reaching their full potential. PROP strives to be a collaborative leader, visible and recognizable, with efficient and technologically strong performance capabilities. We seek to provide service to a geographically broad area, delivered in a decentralized and customized way by staff who reflect the community. MAYN is a project of PROP's Youth Resiliency Project.
Edmund S. Muskie School of Public Service (Muskie)
The Edmund S. Muskie School of Public Service educates leaders, informs public policy, and strengthens civic life through its graduate degree programs, research institutes and public outreach activities. By making the essential connection between research, practice, and informed public policy, the School is dedicated to improving the lives of people of all ages, in every county in Maine and every state in the nation.
