"Guard your light and protect it. Move it forward into the world and be fully confident that if we connect light to light to light, and join the lights together of the one billion young people in our world today, we will be enough to set our whole planet aglow."

Beth Yvonne
MYAN Director
(207) 553-5915
byvonne@propeople.org

Beth’s passion for youth and adults partnering for positive change has been evident to everyone around her since she became a peer educator while a student at Marshwood High School and at UMaine Orono.  Before coming to PROP and helping to start MYAN, Beth partnered with youth to educate and advocate about dating violence with Young Adults Against Dating Abuse (YAADA) in York County.  She loves kayaking, being outdoors and baking desserts.  She knows the words to most 80’s songs and can often be found singing along to the radio while she works.

Chris Gorman
Training Program Manager
(207) 553-5918
cgorman@propeople.org

Chris joined MYAN in the winter of 2007 and is the resident alien of the team.  Hailing from the People's Republic of Canuckistan he is working hard to improuve his pronunciation and spelling but sometimes we still don’t know what he is talking aboot.  He’s been working with youth for over a decade now and is the MacGyver of training and teambuilding initiatives so if you are ever stuck with only a rubber chicken and a piece of chewing gum and are in need an activity for 50 middle school students, give him a shout.  He’s also currently putting the final touches on his new side venture called Stuck on Youth which fashions duct tape tracking devices for concerned parents and will be taking orders soon.

Molly O'Connell
Consulting & Outreach Program Manager
(207) 553-5920
moconnell@propeople.org

Molly joined the MYAN staff in the summer of 2006. She is a nerd at heart, but tries to hide her love of spreadsheets behind her love for cheesy movies. If you want to learn about MYAN, get suggestions or connections to resources/tools/people, have questions about the website, need info about MYAN's events, or cheese is your favorite food, Molly's your girl.

Nicole McKenney
Youth Engagement Program Manager
(207) 553-5916
nmckenney@propeople.org

Although a newbie to the team as a full-time staff member managing the MYAN Youth Leaders Alliance and other youth engagement initiatives, Nicole first became involved with MYAN in 2006 and has returned each year to enjoy Beth’s baked goods (and help out at the office a bit). She has been working as a classroom teacher and tutor for the past two years, and is continually inspired by the passion, energy, and creativity of young people. Nicole is always looking for folks to challenge her Scrabble prowess or teach her how to knit stuff. She loves living near the ocean and her most admired fellow Mainers are Stephen King, Edna St. Vincent Millay, and Bob Crowley of Survivor: Gabon.

Stephen Potts
Project Assistant

MYAN's most recent VISTA Stephen ended his year of service in June, but he's spending some additional time here at MYAN to help out with specific projects into the fall. We're grateful to hang onto Stephen as long as possible, especially because his lunches always look delicious and make the office smell good (and if we're honest, his lunches occasionally smell wierd, too, but that's because he's a cutting edge cook)!
