"Until I attended the MYAN Peer Leadership Conference, I felt like a very small piece of the puzzle that we call life… [attending the conference] is one of the best things I could have done. It developed me into a confident, self-assured youth activist...” ~youth participant
"I’m leaving the conference with a way to advocate for youth. No matter what age you are, you can make a difference. I am leaving with many new ways to communicate with others.”
~youth participant
"[The most important things I'm leaving with] are ideas, resources and energy for a cause."
~adult participant
What's It All About?
All voices matter and each of us has the power to make a difference. The Annual Peer Leadership Conference brings together hundreds of youth & adults from across the state for inspiring workshops, networking, speakers and action planning. Participants leave feeling inspired and informed, ready to take action back home! MYAN plans this event with guidance from youth leaders to ensure this event is relevant and powerful for YOU!

Augusta Civic Center
Theme: Seeds of Change
Quotation: The votes are in! Members of MYAN's network voted on what quotation to choose to go with this year's theme. There were a record number of responses, and the verdict is: "Dreams are the seeds of change. Nothing ever grows without a seed, and nothing ever changes without a dream. ~Debby Boone

Why One Day?
We've heard your feedback!
~ We know that funding is tight for everyone these days, and we wanted to make the event more affordable for groups. Participants will still still hear amazing speakers, attend interesting & interactive workshops, network, find resources, make plans & have fun...but for less money!
~ We heard you that the longer events were exhausting, and that by the end participants were feeling burnt, so we've packed a ton into one day to keep the energy high and give you the most bang for your buck!
~ We know it can be difficult to be away from work/home/school for multiple days, so this year's event involves less time away.
Still want the overnight experience?
Does your group look forward to the teambuilding of an overnight experience? Good news! You can stay for an extra night & day at no cost if you register and attend the Annual Maine Anti-Tobacco Youth Summit on Friday the 12th to get informed, prepared and motivated to be strong anti-tobacco educators and advocates. |

For Presenters
MYAN still has a few workshop slots and is seeking youth, adults and youth-adult teams to offer workshops at this year's Peer Leadership Conference on a wide range of topics. Download the Workshop Proposals form and return it to MYAN as soon as possible to tell us about the amazing ideas, skills & information you have to share.
If you are presenting, here are some resources we recommend you check out.
Call for Exhibitors
MYAN is seeking organizations who value youth voice and engagement to have exhibit tables at this year's Peer Leadership Conference. This is a great chance to inform and connect with young people from across the state about how you can be resource to support their efforts to create positive change, and vice versa! Our participants come from all over the state, and so organizations that apply to exhibit should also serve a broad regional or statewide audience. There is no cost to exhibit, but there is limited space, and MYAN will choose exhibitors from the applicants based on fit for out audience, and with the goal of having a range of issues/topics represented.
